Royal Caribbean Cancels Labadee Port Stops Through August

Royal Caribbean has extended its suspension of cruise visits to Labadee, Haiti, through at least August 2025, citing ongoing security concerns.

The cruise line began canceling stops at its private beach resort in April due to escalating gang violence and political instability in Haiti.

Initially adopting a short-term approach, Royal Caribbean is now adjusting itineraries months in advance, indicating a prolonged pause in visits to Labadee.

A Few Labadee Cancellations

Affected sailings include the July 20 departure of Oasis of the Seas, which will replace Labadee with a stop in Nassau, Bahamas, and the August 2 sailing of Adventure of the Seas, now scheduled to visit Grand Cayman instead.

Other ships, such as Liberty of the Seas and Icon of the Seas, have also rerouted away from Labadee in recent weeks.

In some cases, the canceled port is being substituted with an extra sea day or a visit to Royal Caribbean’s other private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Labadee, located on Haiti’s northern coast, is geographically distant from the capital, Port-au-Prince, where much of the violence is concentrated.

However, the U.S. State Department maintains a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for all of Haiti, citing risks including kidnapping, crime, and civil unrest.

Royal Caribbean emphasized that the decision to suspend visits is made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of guests, crew, and local staff.

The cruise line has not provided a timeline for resuming visits to Labadee.

Last year the line pulled sailings from Labadee for seven months.
