The fall happened in the early hours of Saturday, November 25, as the cruise ship set out on a three-day voyage, traveling between Port Canaveral in Florida and Nassau in the Bahamas. Royal Caribbean did not disclose details regarding the boy’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the fall.

In a statement to the press, the cruise line said, “We are saddened to learn of the passing of a guest and our hearts go out to the family. Out of respect for them, we won’t provide any further comment.”

What we do know is the boy did not die on impact but as a result of the fall. While receiving medical care from the personnel onboard, a passenger reported that the crew requested blood donations from willing passengers on Saturday morning. He later died in the hospital where he was taken.

A guest email to our tip line said, “We are currently on Allure of the Seas. I am not sure what happened, but there was an emergency onboard earlier. Now, they are asking people to donate blood.”

After the incident, an area of the deck was blocked off while yellow caution tape was plastered over the balcony where the boy had been.
