Holland America Changes Tamarind Restaurant Menu Fleetwide

Holland America Line’s acclaimed Pan-Asian specialty restaurant, Tamarind, is introducing a refreshed dining experience featuring over a dozen new dishes inspired by the bold flavors of Asia.

Originally launched aboard the Eurodam in 2008, Tamarind is best known for a menu that draws from Southeast Asia, China, and Japan.

The updated menu includes new sharing-style appetizers such as bao buns and Korean beef tacos, alongside vegetarian and vegan options to cater to various palates.

Main courses include Mongolian lamb chops and Thai basil Szechuan shrimp, while desserts include a cherry blossom tart and vegan pineapple coconut tapioca.

The menu also highlights seafood from Holland America Line’s Global Fresh Fish Program, which offers over 80 varieties of fresh fish worldwide.

A display of fresh seafood arranged on ice includes whole fish, prawns, shrimp, octopus, and lobsters. The seafood is decorated with greens and lemon slices—ideal for those cruising from Galveston who seek fresh, local cuisine among things to do on Galveston Island.

In addition to the culinary enhancements, Tamarind’s dining experience has been elevated with new table settings that showcase more color and updated staff uniforms.

“Our goal is to keep the flavors as genuine as possible, providing guests with a true Asian experience,” said Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage, and rooms division for Holland America Line.

The new menu will debut on Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Koningsdam, Eurodam, and Nieuw Amsterdam from April through June 2025.

Starting in October, a Taste of Tamarind pop-up experience will be available on Westerdam in Asia and Noordam in Australia, as well as during Grand Voyages and select Legendary Voyages.

Dining at Tamarind is available for a $35 supplemental charge or as part of the “Have It All” package.

Earlier this year, the line rolled out a bistro dining concept in its popular Rudi’s Sel de Mer restaurant.
