MSC Cruises’ newest mega-ship, MSC World America, arrived in Miami today ahead of its official naming ceremony on April 9.
With nearly 216,000 gross registered tons and a capacity for 6,762 passengers, it’s not only the largest MSC ship ever to sail from North America—it’s also the biggest cruise ship from any brand other than Royal Caribbean to homeport in the U.S.
As of early 2025, the 20-deck vessel is now the eighth-largest cruise ship in the world, trailing only Royal Caribbean’s Icon and Oasis Class ships.
Its arrival coincides with the debut of MSC’s new terminal at PortMiami—the world’s largest cruise terminal—featuring state-of-the-art biometric check-in, a suite lounge for MSC Yacht Club guests, and the capacity to process multiple mega-ships at once.
Designed for the North American market, the ship offers six pools, a top-deck ropes course, a massive family zone called The Harbour, and new dining options, including an American-style sports bar.
With weekly departures from Miami, MSC World America joins the lineup of mega-ships competing head-to-head with Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas and Carnival’s Celebration.
On April 12, MSC World America will begin sailing seven-night alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, with stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Isla de Roatán, Honduras.
