This is a photo tour of Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ brand new private destination in the Bimini Islands.
Earlier this month we had a chance to check out the new private island in the Bahamas that MSC Cruises has spent years developing. Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve was first announced in 2015, with a projected opening date of 2017.

With numerous delays, including tons of scrap metal found on the ocean floor and a hurricane, the company was finally able to open the island in December 2019.
Fast forward to January 2020, the island is officially transformed from a dumping ground to a 95-acre destination where cruise guests can not only enjoy a day in the sun but also participate in scientific research.

- The lighthouse is the launch point for the island’s zip lines
- An expansive plaza welcomes cruisers when they step off the ship

- Multiple beach areas give cruisers plenty of space
- Seakers is a beach dedicated to families.
- All the beaches on the island have a lifeguard on them.
- Private cabanas are available to rent
- Multiple bars offer drink service
- A food truck offers quick beach-side eats
- A food truck is reserved exclusively for MSC Yacht Club guests
- Bathrooms are available
- In keeping with the environmental message that inspired Ocean Cay, recycling bins are present on the island
- Guests can opt to climb the lighthouse as an excursion.
- The lighthouse consists of 165 steps.
- From the ground to the top of the lighthouse is 115 feet.
- Make sure to bring your camera if you climb the lighthouse. You can oversee the whole island.

- Since the ship stays at night, it is a perfect time to get some sunset photos.

- The Junkanoo Beach Parade kicks off and ends at the iconic lighthouse.
- The lighthouse is outfitted with 23,000 LED lights. .
- The night is capped off with not one, but two spectacular shows.
