Royal Caribbean International has rolled out a new tracking wristband for children aboard Star of the Seas, giving parents the ability to monitor their child’s location while sailing.

The system, branded Find My Kid, is available for children ages 3 to 12. For a one-time fee of $14.99, families receive a waterproof Adventure Ocean WOW Band that connects with the Royal Caribbean mobile app.
Once activated, parents can view their child’s location on an interactive deck map. The function works over the ship’s Wi-Fi but does not require an internet package.
Beyond location tracking, the bands can unlock stateroom doors, allow pre-approved onboard purchases, and display muster station information in case of an emergency. The devices are reusable on future sailings. Enrollment begins at the Adventure Ocean kid’s club, where staff issue the bands and provide setup assistance.
The feature was first piloted on Icon of the Seas in 2024 and has now been formally introduced on Star of the Seas. Royal Caribbean has not confirmed a timeline for wider rollout, but the program is expected to expand to additional ships.
Passenger Feedback
Parents have welcomed the technology as an added layer of reassurance on ships that can carry thousands of guests. On Reddit’s r/royalcaribbean, one parent said that children already receive basic muster station wristbands but called the new tracker “a welcome improvement for families.”
Another parent said the waterproof design and app integration offered “extra peace of mind” compared to makeshift solutions such as Tyvek ID wristbands with contact information written on them.
Royal Caribbean first debuted its touchless WOW Bands in 2014 with the launch of Quantum of the Seas. The wristbands, which allow guests to unlock stateroom doors, make onboard purchases, and check in for activities, were never rolled out across the entire fleet.
In 2021 they were reintroduced as part of the line’s push to demonstrate that touchless technology could enhance safety and convenience at sea, and they remain available on select ships today.
