Celebrity Cruises Takes Delivery of New Ship in France

Celebrity Cruises took delivery of its newest ship, the Celebrity Ascent, at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France.

It is the fourth ship in the Edge Series and offers the fleet’s broadest range of staterooms and suites and 32 distinct restaurants, bars, and lounges.

Ascent will debut in Fort Lauderdale on December 3, sailing a seven-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary with calls in St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and the Dominican Republic.

The Flying Scotsman to Leave Ship Life after 12 Years

Carnival Cruise Line’s famous cruise director, Chris Williams, AKA The Flying Scotsman, leaves ship life.

After 12 years, Chris is trading his kilt for khakis.

Fleet Cruise Directors oversee various ships across the Carnival fleet and work closely with Cruise Directors and the Fun Squad to ensure smooth operations.

The promotion also means Chris will no longer be a permanent fixture on one ship.

He said this is an opportunity for professional growth and development in the new position.

MSC’s Explora I Arrives in Miami

PortMiami recently hosted MSC’s luxury ship Explora I for the first time.

The visit was marked by a traditional crest exchange between the ship’s captain and Miami-Dade County officials.

After departing from Miami, Explora I set sail for San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is scheduled to cruise the Caribbean and Central America until March.

After numerous delays, the ship began service in late July and was officially named in October in New York City.
