Port Canaveral welcomed the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) fleet on Wednesday. Disney Treasure joins Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish, becoming the cruise line’s third vessel to homeport in Brevard County.

The three cruise ships will host hundreds of thousands of passengers annually.
Port Canaveral CEO Captain John Murray warmly acknowledged the Triton-class vessel’s arrival, saying, “Disney Cruise Line has been a longtime partner of Port Canaveral, and we’re thrilled to welcome this newest addition to its fleet which will provide guests with unforgettable vacation experiences.”
Meanwhile, Canaveral Port Authority Chairman Micah Lloyd said the vessel exemplifies both parties’ dedication to environment-friendly operations. “In addition to creating high-quality guest experiences, Disney and Port Canaveral share a commitment to sustainable operations, leveraging innovative strategies and exploring new ways to minimize our environmental footprint,” Lloyd added.
Following maritime tradition, Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Admiral Wayne Justice, Lloyd, and Murray exchanged plaques with Disney Treasure’s Captain Marco Nogara and DCL’s VP Port Strategy, Development, and Operations Jose Fernandez.
Why Port Canaveral?
According to the Florida cruise port, DCL chose Port Canaveral as Treasure’s point of embarkation because of its centralized location, proximity to tourist attractions, and LNG-friendly infrastructure.
The maritime hub is equipped with a custom-built fueling barge and has established protocols that ensure safety and fire-fighting capabilities.
Launch and Maiden Voyage
Disney Treasure officially enters service this December 21. Its maiden voyage is a weeklong sailing that will take guests to Disney’s private resort Castaway Cay, St. Thomas, and Tortola. The 140,000-ton ship will then host year-round voyages to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
Before arriving in Florida, the ship already made headlines by rescuing seafarers during its transatlantic journey.
The 4,000-passenger vessel’s highly awaited amenities include new restaurants, bars, and lounges; the first live production of Moana; the EPCOT-inspired Tomorrow Tower Suite; and the AquaMouse water tube ride.
