Major Upgrades Announced for Norwegian Bliss and Breakaway

Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Breakaway are slated for major upgrades in 2025.

These include an all-new cinema and dining experience, a revamped outdoor recreational venue, larger dining establishments, and more luxurious suites.

The 2018-built Norwegian Bliss will undergo a January 17 to February 2 dry dock next year. The refurbished vessel will re-emerge with Horizon Park, a brand new outdoor venue that will offer lounging areas, panoramic ocean views, and games like giant Jenga and cornhole

Its premium accommodations, The Haven, will likewise be expanded with three-bedroom suites inspired by those on Norwegian Joy and Encore. The ship-within-a-ship lodgings will feature their own living and dining rooms, three-and-a-half baths, master bedrooms, and enviable views of The Haven Horizon Lounge.

A rooftop lounge at sunset offers an upgraded dining experience with outdoor seating, a swimming pool, and a play area with large colorful blocks. String lights glimmer overhead as the sky remains partly cloudy, setting the perfect scene for an elegant entertainment venue.

The Breakaway Plus-class cruise ship will also receive 24 new balcony staterooms and two more balcony staterooms.

Its dining lineup will see Los Lobos replaced by a bigger Cagney’s Steakhouse, while Teppanyaki will replace Coco’s. Ocean Blue will also make way for Palomar, a specialty seafood restaurant that first appeared onboard Norwegian Prima.

Norwegian Breakaway’s dry dock has been scheduled from February 19 to March 14, 2025. As the revitalized vessel re-enters service, it will boast the Silver Screen Bistro, a cinematic and gustatory experience that promises to be “immersive” and enjoyable.

Instead of the Spiegel Tent’s acrobatics, the new entertainment venue will invite guests to relax on oversized recliners with retractable tables. Its menu will offer global fusion cuisine from Food Republic.

The 18-deck ship will also accommodate a new Horizon Park with a slight difference. Norwegian Breakway’s version will host an expansive stage, perfect for live performances. The Stadium, a family-friendly amenity offering outdoor games, will complement Horizon Park’s outdoorsy atmosphere.

Similar to Bliss, Ocean Blue and Moderno Churrascaria will be replaced by Cagney’s Steakhouse and Palomar. Meanwhile, The Haven Sundeck and the adults-only Vibe Beach Club will offer more seating and cabanas so more passengers can admire the changing views.

A modern entertainment venue features a cinema room with rows of plush, burgundy reclining seats. A large screen displays a view of a mountainous landscape with "HOLLYWOOD" in bold letters. Ceiling lights create a serene ambiance, perfect for enjoying an upgraded cinematic dining experience.

The cruise line’s President, David J. Herrera noted that these upgrades were based on what has proven popular among vacationers. “At Norwegian Cruise Line, our guests and what they value most is critical in order for us to develop experiences,” Herrera explained. “Our goal is to provide them their very own best vacation.”

Norwegian Bliss will homeport from Southampton, Miami, and Seattle in 2025 and visit locations like the Caribbean, the Mexican Riviera, and Alaska.

Norwegian Breakaway will sail from Spain; Venice (Trieste), Italy; and Barcelona next year. Its European destinations include Corfu, Greece; Cannes, France; Palma (Majorca), Spain; and Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy.

Another vessel from the same cruise line, Norwegian Encore, re-entered service last August after a multimillion-dollar revamp.
