In the last two weeks, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced that several voyages in 2025 across 7 of its ships have been canceled. Meanwhile, one vessel will have limited amenities due to extensive ongoing renovations. Is your NCL cruise affected?

Citing full ships, redeployments in 2025, and political unrest in the Red Sea, NCL recently communicated that it has canceled select voyages onboard Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Viva, and Norwegian Star. 2025 itineraries from January to October are affected.
Specifically, the following sailings will no longer push through:
NCL Cruise Ship | Canceled Sailings in 2025 |
Norwegian Jade | February 20 March 4, 13, and 24 |
Norwegian Epic | November 1 and 11 |
Norwegian Spirit | January 1 |
Norwegian Pearl | April 19 May 5, 16, 27 June 5 October 15 |
Norwegian Sky | All itineraries from April 19 to June 5 |
Norwegian Viva | May 18 and 27 September 20 and 29 |
Norwegian Star | May 17 and 29 June 9 |
“Due to fleet redeployments, charters, and one drydock, we have made the decision to cancel selected sailings onboard our ships,” reads NCL’s memo to travel agents. |
Guests with canceled sailings will receive full refunds and a 10% discount on their next cruise, redeemable as a future cruise credit (FCC). The FCC will be available by April 4 and can be used on any NCL sailing that leaves until December 31, 2025.
While the cruise line has yet to announce a new set of cruises to replace the ones that have been canceled, it promised to share new voyages around April 10, 2024.
Limited Amenities Onboard Norwegian Viva due to Extensive Refurbishments
Norwegian Viva’s April 7 transatlantic cruise hasn’t been postponed, but a few areas will be inaccessible to guests due to ongoing renovations. NCL has yet to come up with a definitive list of which amenities will be unavailable. Still, we do know that the minigolf course, the water slide (The Wave), the Speedway Bar, a section of the TV gaming space Galaxy’s Pavilion, and other gaming areas will be off-limits.
Unfortunately for NCL passengers, it wasn’t too long ago that the cruise line made a similar announcement. Last November, the company called off three months’ worth of cruises onboard the Norwegian Escape.
