Two Popular NCL Drink Packages Will Soon Cost More

Two NCL drink packages are getting a price hike come the first of the year.

The cruise line quietly updated its Onboard Packages webpage to reflect a $10 price increase for both its Unlimited Open Bar Package and the Premium Plus Beverage Package.

For sailings that depart on January 1, 2023, or after, the first package will cost $109 per day and the second will be $138 per day.

Currently, the Unlimited Open Bar Package is $99 per person, per day, and the Premium Plus Beverage Package is $128 per person, per day, neither of which include an automatic gratuity of 20 percent. Here’s a look at what each package currently includes:

Unlimited Open Bar Package

  • Select, premium cocktails and spirits under $15
  • Beer and wine by the glass under $15
  • 20 percent off all bottles of champagne and wine
  • Unlimited soft drinks and juices

Premium Plus Beverage Package

  • All top-shelf cocktails and spirits
  • All beer, champagne, and wine by the glass
  • Select premium bottles of champagne and wine with dinner and 40 percent off all other bottles
  • Unlimited soft drinks and juices
  • Unlimited still and sparkling water
  • All Starbucks coffee and specialty drinks
  • Energy drinks

Along with the price hike, starting January 1 the Unlimited Open Bar Package will begin including six 1 liter Flow Water bottles that are delivered to the cabin on embarkation day.

In comparison, Carnival Cruise Line’s CHEERS beverage package, which is comparable to the Unlimited Open Bar Package, costs $59.95 per person, per day if booked in advance of the cruise. Royal Caribbean’s Deluxe Beverage Package generally costs between $48 and $79 per person, per day if booked in advance, depending on the ship and itinerary.

With Norwegian Cruise Line’s new pricing, the cost of the Unlimited Open Bar Package plus gratuities for a seven-night cruise will run you $916 for one person. The Premium Plus Beverage Package will cost $1,159 per person.

Note that Norwegian Cruise Line’s beverage package does extend to its island Great Stirrup Cay, which is not the case with every cruise lines’ private destinations.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Corks and Caps Wine and Beer Package, which costs $65 per person, per day will not be increasing. The line’s Soda Package price was already increased earlier this year by $2, from $7.95 to $9.95 per day.
