Princess Mega Ship Will Join Alaska Cruise Season in 2026

Princess Cruises announced its upcoming Sphere-class mega vessel will be part of its Alaskan sailings in 2026. The Star Princess will be one of eight ships embarking on 180 cruises and 19 destinations during voyages that span seven to 20 days.

Princess Cruises President John Padgett acknowledged the addition, saying, “2026 will reinforce Princess’ leadership in Alaska vacations. The deployment of the magnificent Star Princess to Alaska for the first time will offer guests unprecedented views, luxurious accommodations, and the finest food, beverages and entertainment ever seen in the Great Land.

The 175,500-gross-ton ship will be the first Sphere-class vessel to venture into Alaskan waters. Debuting in fall 2025, the Star Princess will allow vacationers to spot glaciers and wildlife as it takes them to The Last Frontier.

Its unique onboard offerings include The Dome, a day-to-night entertainment venue enclosed in glass, and The Sphere, a suspended piazza or open area inside a glass dome. The 4,300-passenger vessel will also have new dining options and old favorites like O’Malley’s, Crown Grill, Alfredo’s Pizzeria, and Kai Sushi.

Together with Royal Princess, Ruby Princess, and Emerald Princess, guests can book seven to 20-day voyages on the Star Princess, which include weekend departures from Seattle. The vessels will navigate Alaska’s Inside Passage, visiting Seattle, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Los Angeles ports.

Other 2026 itineraries offer chances to see Alaska’s breathtaking glaciers. Island Princess, Coral Princess, Grand Princess, and Discovery Princess will leave for seven-day voyages to Glacier National Park.

Guests longing for lengthier trips can consider the 20-day Ultimate Alaska Solstice onboard Ruby Princess or the 16-day Inside Passage cruise with the Emerald Princess. Ruby will sail from San Francisco, while Emerald will depart from Los Angeles on roundtrip sailings.

These trips can be booked starting this August while the cruise line’s price-matching program is still in effect. Last June, Princess announced that it would match the lowest price online if certain conditions are met. The offer is valid until September 2, 2024.
