Royal Caribbean Ship to Homeport in LA Sooner Than Expected

Previously, Royal Caribbean had announced that — for the first time in a decade — it would be homeporting a ship on the west coast in 2022.

But it looks like California won’t end up having to wait quite that long now. Navigator of the Seas’ Los Angeles schedule has just been moved up.

In a news statement on its website for travel agents, Royal Caribbean said “We’re thrilled to share we were presented with an opportunity to bring Navigator to Los Angeles even sooner! Navigator of the Seas will now begin sailing year-round from Los Angeles, California as of November 2021.”

As previously revealed, the ship will be sailing three to seven-night sailings until at least spring 2022.

Three, four, and five-night itineraries will visit Catalina Island, California as well as Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Select winter holiday seven-night cruises will feature overnights in Cabo, as well as stops at Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán.

Navigator of the Seas underwent an extensive renovation in 2019, and now features a revamped pool area, new dining and nightlife venues, and updated furnishings. Here are some highlights of the ship:

  • A reimagined Caribbean poolscape anchored by a three-story The Lime & Coconut bar
  • Two waterslides that cantilever over the edges of the ship: The Blaster aqua coaster — the longest waterslide at sea, and Riptide — the industry’s only headfirst mat racer
  • The first standalone blow-dry bar at sea, To Dry For
  • Hooked Seafood restaurant, featuring New England-style seafood specialties
  • A new Jamie’s Italian specialty restaurant
  • A new Bamboo Room Polynesian-themed bar and lounge
  • The Playmakers Bar, featuring big-screen sports, arcade-style games, chicken wings, and more
  • El Loco Fresh, a specialty Mexican restaurant where casual meals can be enjoyed at a table outdoors or taken to go
  • A new laser tag option at Studio B

The additional sailings will open for booking next week.
