Carnival Cruise Line has hosted more passengers from Galveston than its competitors. A proud advocate of the Texas cruise port, the company announced it reached the 10 million mark last week after sailing millions of passengers to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

We are grateful to our guests who have sailed with us from Galveston over the past two decades, continually driving the popularity of this homeport forward,” said Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy. “The future is certainly bright, as we’re delighted to welcome more guests aboard than ever before from this great city–next stop, 20 million!” |

Offering Year-Round Sailings for 24 years
In 2000, Carnival became the first cruise line to offer year-round itineraries from Galveston. It has been continuing the tradition for 24 years.
Today, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream, and Carnival Jubilee homeport from Galveston offer 4- to 8-night voyages. Carnival Miracle will join them in October 2024 and Carnival Legend in 2025.
The cruise line’s newest ship, Carnival Jubilee, was heavily marketed as a Texas-style cruise ship. It sports a Texas star on its bow and was the first new cruise ship to have its christening in Galveston.
The cruise line hopes to grow guest capacity by 20% and host more than 800,000 passengers from Galveston in 2023.
Port Improvements Boost Guest Capacity
The Port of Galveston underwent a $53 million expansion that was completed in December 2023. The development included interior renovations, upgrades to its berth and mooring, a second bridge for boarding, and a more modern Customs and Border Protection facility.
During the same year, the nation’s 4th busiest cruise port accommodated 1.49 million passengers, registering a 42% growth compared to 2022.
