Ask any regular Carnival Cruise Line guest and they’ll likely be able to tell you the various rules regarding the Cheers! drink package. They can tell you what beverages it does (and doesn’t) include and how many you’re allowed in a 24-hour period. They’ll also likely tell you they’ve never seen the “You’ve Been Cut Off” notice which has been circulating around the web in recent weeks.
What the Notice Says
“With Carnival Cruise, you’ve been cut off,” reads the big, bold lettering atop what looks like an official notification. According to several posts, the missive from Carnival was being left in the room of individuals who, for whatever reason, were being denied drinks for the duration of their cruise.

“The consumption of alcohol is a privilege we take seriously,” the message continues. “Based on our records, you have exceeded Carnival’s guidelines for responsible enjoyment of alcoholic beverages.”
As a result, it adds, “Further alcohol consumption privileges have been suspended for the duration of this cruise.”
Next comes a section headed What This Means, followed by two bullet-pointed items:
• You will not be served or sold any alcoholic beverages.
• This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
The note ends as follows: “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Carnival’s goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable vacation for all guests.”
Is This Notification Real?
As official as the notification might look, something about it feels, even to a casual observer, off. Even the wording of the bold-print headline — “With Carnival Cruise, You’ve Been Cut Off” reads odd.

Well, that’s because the notice is a certifiable fake. It’s unclear who created the document or why, but a spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Line confirmed to Cruise Radio what we suspected all along with a three-word response: “It’s not real.”
This is not to say that guests can’t (or won’t) find themselves having their drinking privileges revoked. But should that happen, they won’t be receiving this faux document in their staterooms, e-mail folders or anywhere else.
