Juneau Announces Per-Day Cruise Ship Limit

A per-day ship cap is coming to Juneau, Alaska.

The city, along with CLIA on behalf of its cruise line members, have signed a memorandum of agreement to limit the port to five large cruise ships per day. The cap is intended to benefit both visitors and residents, while still providing a strong market for local businesses that rely on cruise tourism.

While Juneau’s port schedule isn’t within the new limit this year, the 2024 season is.

Juneau is regular stop for all major cruise lines that sail in Alaska, including Princess, Holland America, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean.

Celebrity Cruises Oversells Japan Voyages

Royal Caribbean Group cruise lines seem to be having issues with overselling their ships.

Celebrity Cruises recently sent an email to guests booked on multiple Japan cruises this fall and next spring on Celebrity Millennium to tell them their booking had been canceled due to an “unexpected inventory error.” To be clear, the cruises aren’t canceled, just select passengers’ individual reservations.

This comes just over a month after sister line Royal Caribbean informed guests that it had oversold the March 12th voyage on Wonder of the Seas. The same thing happened to Wonder on the December 11th sailing last year.
