The Cayman Islands Exceed 2022 Visitor Goal

The Cayman Islands exceeded its 2022 visitor goal, welcoming over 1,027,000 travelers, including over 700,000 cruise passengers on 261 ship calls. Director of tourism Rosa Harris attributed pent-up demand for travel and the quality of the Cayman Islands’ tourism offerings for the huge number of visitors.

This year, the destination has a goal of welcoming at least 70 percent of the amount of people that visited just prior to the pandemic in 2019.

Two Former HAL Vessels to Become Residential Cruise Ships

Two former Holland America ships are set to become residential ships through river cruise company Victoria Cruises Line.

The former Veendam and Ryndam have been renamed Victoria Majestic and Victoria Amazing and are scheduled to begin operating as houseboats this May. Their around the world trips will set sail from Port Everglades and take around 27 months. They’ll spent one day to a week at most ports.

Open only to adults, the staterooms and suites can be rented for a minimum of six months or long-term for an unlimited, undefined amount of time. The ships will include free and unlimited internet. 6-11 month leases start at $6,300 per month for an interior cabin.

Victoria Cruises Line currently operates seven river ships on China’s Yangtze River.
