Holland America’s ship Zaandam returned to cruising today at Port Everglades, leaving just one more vessel until the entire fleet is back in service.

Guests embarked the ship for a nine-day Atlantic Coast cruise to Montreal, Canada, as the ship will sail in Canada and New England through October.

To commemorate the occasion, Holland America held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the terminal to open embarkation, attended by the ship’s captain, officers, and flag-waving crew members.

“With Zaandam’s reentry into service, we are thrilled to not only have nearly our full fleet back, but also to return Canada and New England after two years away from this beautiful cruising destination,” said Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line.

Zaandam has some special cruises coming up, and we’re glad to have her back in service with an amazing team ready to give our guests an exceptional cruise experience.”

Following the repositioning cruise along the east coast, Zaandam will spend the summer and early fall offering Canada and New England voyages between Boston, Massachusetts, and Montreal.

On July 9, the vessel will set sail on the 35-day Voyage of the Vikings itinerary roundtrip from Boston, which retraces the routes of past explorers with port calls in Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, and the Netherlands.

On October 10, Zaandam will embark passengers for a 71-day Grand Africa Voyage that sails roundtrip from Port Everglades and includes 25 ports of call, four overnights, and multiple safari opportunities.

After the Grand Africa Voyage, the ship will spend the holidays in the Caribbean and then offer a series of Panama Canal transits. Next spring, Zaandam will return to Canada and New England.

Since Holland America restarted cruising in July 2021, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Noordam, Oosterdam, Rotterdam, and Zuiderdam have all returned to service.

Volendam is currently under charter by the government of the Netherlands, docked in Rotterdam to house Ukrainian refugees.

Holland America’s full restart is scheduled for June 12, when Westerdam sets sail from Seattle, Washington.
