MSC is serving up Wine and Food themed cruises

msc Brand new for the 2011/2012 season, privately-owned MSC Cruises has sought out some of its home country’s leading names to offer a series of special courses, demonstrations and activities.

The cookery schools of La Prova del Cuoco (literally ‘The Chef’s Challenge’) tour Italy teaching with the same fresh and friendly style made famous by the popular TV series of the same name. Now this renowned institution has created a new course especially for MSC Cruises. Each comprises five lessons covering everything from meat and fish through to fresh pasta and desserts, along with tips on how to put together a menu and choose the best ingredients.

These fascinating workshops are available on the following Mediterranean cruises: MSC Orchestra (19-day 18-night cruise, 20th March 2012), MSC Poesia (10-day 9-night cruise, 26th April 2012) and MSC Magnifica (13-day 12-night cruise, 22nd May 2012).

Meanwhile, the ‘Approach to Wine’ course with the Italian Sommelier Association, an organisation that has been helping define the role of the sommelier since 1965, comprises five lessons featuring both theory and practical wine tasting sessions. Topics covered will include the basics of wine growing, the wines of Italy and the world, and techniques for pairing food and wine. The courses will be complemented by three additional wine and food pairing sessions.

Dates are as follows: MSC Orchestra (18-day 17-night, 18th November 2011), MSC Musica (18-day 17-night, 1st December 2011 and 19-day 18-night, 17th March 2012) and MSC Poesia (17 day 16-night, 17th March 2012).

Guests joining these theme cruises will be offered a certificate of attendance.
