Several Norwegian Escape Cruises Canceled For Dry Dock

Guests sailing on Norwegian Escape this fall received a letter this week advising them that their sailing has been canceled for dry dock.

The letter sent out stated, “As a result of a required ship dry-dock, all voyages on Norwegian Escape from September 8, 2022, through and including October 2, 2022, have been canceled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The reason for the dry dock was not announced, however, the ship was involved in an accident earlier this year that took the ship out of service.

In March, Norwegian Escape ran aground when leaving port in the Dominican Republic, canceling that cruise and several subsequent voyages. The ship eventually returned to sailing on April 16.

Guests that were on the grounded voyage were flown back to Florida via chartered planes. Days later, Escape returned to Port Canaveral to undergo four weeks of extensive underwater welding to make the ship seaworthy again.

The ship eventually returned to service for one cruise before sailing to Europe for the summer.

A full monetary refund of the fare paid will be automatically returned to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation, and a 10 percent Future Cruise Credit will be credited to guests’ accounts to be used for any voyage through June 13, 2023.

For reservations paid via a previously issued Future Cruise Credit (FCC), 100 percent of the FCC used will be automatically re-applied to their Latitudes account. No further action is required; the FCC will be automatically added to the account within seven days of the cancelation date.

Escape is currently spending the summer sailing throughout Europe and is homeporting in Civitavecchia (Rome) sailing seven to 11-night voyages. The block of voyages canceled are nine and 10-night Greek Isles cruises.

In November, the vessel is scheduled to sail a 16-night repositioning cruise to Port Canaveral, where it’ll homeport until next spring.
