The cruise line also informed guests that the following cruise on March 30 had been canceled due to the required repair time. The cruise line indicated it was a propulsion problem.

Current Sailing Cut Short

Brilliance of the Seas is experiencing a technical issue resulting in the ship being required to sail at a much slower speed. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to make our scheduled calls for the remainder of our sailing,” it said in a letter to guests.

Due to the shortened journey, guests will receive a 50% refund on their cruise fare, paid as onboard credit and a 50% future cruise credit. Unused pre-paid shore excursions will be reimbursed, again as onboard credit, and extra hotel costs and flight change fees will be refunded.

The ship is currently heading back to Australia from New Caledonia, skipping planned calls in Noumea and Vanuatu. Brilliance of the Seas was on an 11-night South Pacific cruise but will now arrive in Sydney four days earlier on March 26.

The following itinerary – a 5-night cruise to Tasmania – has been canceled. Royal Caribbean has informed guests who booked this cruise and outlined refund options.

Guests are entitled to a full 100% refund, including taxes and fees, pre-paid packages, shore excursions, and any flights booked through the cruise line.

Additionally, they will receive a 50% Future Cruise Credit valid for use on a sailing departing within 12 months. Additional travel expenses, such as flights and hotels, will be reimbursed.

“While these circumstances are beyond our control, we understand that this change impacts your vacation, and we’re truly sorry,” the line said.

Royal Caribbean says it “intends to sail as planned” the next scheduled Sydney sailing on April 4, 2024. Should it need to make any adjustments, guests on this sailing will be informed by March 28.
