UPDATE December 2, 2021 at 7:45 pm: Celebrity Cruises has placed a hold on the information below, which reads as follows: “The below protocol has been postponed until further notice, while we continue to monitor global situations and lead our industry forward safely.”
This means that for now, Celebrity will not be requiring that kids ages 5 to 11 be vaccinated against COVID-19 to sail.
Celebrity Cruises has announced that it’ll update its vaccination protocols as of February 1, 2022.
Previously and currently, the line is requiring that all passengers 12 and older are vaccinated to sail.
Kids ages 2 to 11 are required to bring a negative antigen or PCR test taken within three days of boarding.
As of February 1, all Celebrity guests ages 5 and older must be fully vaccinated. Also at that time, unvaccinated kids ages 2 to 4 will be required to bring a negative antigen or PCR test result conducted within three days of boarding.
Both currently and beyond February, all vaccinated passengers will need to continue providing a negative COVID-19 antigen or PCR test taken within two days of embarkation. A health questionnaire must also be completed prior to sailing.
It’s important to note that for both unvaccinated kids and vaccinated passengers, these pre-cruise tests cannot be taken on boarding day.
Celebrity Cruises was the first cruise line to resume sailings from the United States after the industry shutdown when Celebrity Edge set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in June 2021.
The line’s second Edge-class vessel, Celebrity Apex, made her debut cruise in June in Europe, and arrived in Fort Lauderdale in October.
The third Edge ship, Celebrity Beyond, is set to debut in April 2022, and the line recently cut steel and announced the name of the class’ fourth vessel — Celebrity Ascent.
