Carnival Dream Passenger Ingests Battery

An 86-year-old male passenger on Carnival Dream was medevaced by the Coast Guard over the weekend for ingesting a battery and experiencing gastrointestinal side effects.

The ship was sailing 50 miles off the coast of Texas when the Coast Guard received a call requesting a rescue.

The guest was airlifted by an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and flown to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he was deemed to be in stable condition.

Allure of the Seas Cruise Oversold, Again

Another week, another overbooked Royal Caribbean cruise.

The line has oversold another sailing on Allure of the Seas, this time the May 14th departure that’s less than a week away. The affected cruise is a seven-night western Caribbean voyage from Galveston.

Notified guests can either move their booking to a similar Voyager of the Seas cruise and receive a full refund plus onboard credit, move their booking to a later Allure sailing, or cancel and receive a full refund and a 100 percent future cruise credit. Guests also have the option of keeping their booking as-is.

This news comes just after Royal Caribbean revealed it had also oversold its April 30th departure on the same ship.

Carnival Venezia to Feature New Italian Restaurant

Carnival’s upcoming ship Carnival Venezia will feature a new Italian restaurant called Il Viaggio, which means “The Voyage.”

Menu items represent different regions of Italy so guests can take a trip around Italy through their meal. Offerings will include house-made burrata, jumbo shrimp scampi, pollo parmigiana pizza, mile-high gelato pie, and tiramisu.

Il Viaggio will have a show kitchen as well as outdoor lanai seating. The specialty restaurant will cost $42 for adults and $10 for kids.

Carnival Venezia will begin sailing from New York City on June 15th following a transatlantic voyage from Barcelona.
