New Cruise Ship Helps Set Booking Record For Royal Caribbean

Icon of the Seas is off to a good start living up to her name, as the first Icon-class vessel caused Royal Caribbean to have its single largest booking day in its 53-year history earlier this week.

First features of the ship were revealed a week ago today, as Royal Caribbean detailed some of the amenities that will be found across the vessel’s eight neighborhoods.

“The enthusiasm and excitement for Icon are undeniable in more ways than one,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “The incredible response we have received from our loyal guests, vacationers new to cruising, crew members and travel partners continues to come in, and this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to share more of what Icon has in store in the coming months.”

What the line is calling “the ultimate family vacation” will feature an extensive lineup of firsts and next-level favorites. Water slides and other heart-pumping attractions will be featured at Thrill Island, while guests can relax at Chill Island. Icon of the Seas will also feature an exclusive four-story Suite Neighborhood.

The vessel will feature a whopping 28 stateroom categories that range from standard cabins to suites and new layouts for families of three, four, five, six, and more.

Icon of the Seas will sail year-round from Miami, offering seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises. Every voyage will visit Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
