Carnival Adds High Speed Internet

Carnival Corporation has announced the expansion of its hybrid connectivity system to create the industry’s largest wifi network – and one of the world’s biggest satellite mobility networks.

The company’s WiFi@Sea network features the broadest high-bandwidth internet coverage in the industry – currently in use on 30 of its 100 ships, which is much more than any other cruise line company.

The system is a new solution that integrates onboard software, satellite systems, networking equipment, land-based antennas, and wifi from port connections to create the fastest and best wireless connectivity possible.  Guests will be able to connect to their favorite online outlets up to 10 times faster than previously available on Carnival’s ships.

Pricing

Carnival Corp has also implemented new pricing models for internet alongside the new network, with more packages and affordable options available.  Guests will be able to choose packages like ones that only cover social media, or more inclusive packages if they need more internet freedom.

Currently Carnival Cruise Line has Social packages that start at $5 per day for unlimited use of social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. They also have a value plan for $16 per day that includes news, email, sports and banking along with a premium plan that includes the listed plus Skype video.

Holland America is also testing new packages.
