Carnival Cruise Line has made waves among passengers by shaking up its late-night dining options, specifically its late-night pizza.
While loved for its almost round-the-clock availability, the late-night pizza has now been shifted to the buffet starting at midnight.
Translation: The late-night pizza counter closes at midnight.
What Carnival is Saying About Pizza
The news came on Friday via Carnival’s brand ambassador, John Heald, who said: “Over the years, many of you have written and spoken to me about food options and the wait time for pizza when you’re looking for a late-night snack.”
He said: “Now around midnight, our fabulous team on Lido will take over from our wonderful pizza chefs as our service moves from the counter to the buffet line. You can find delicious pizza still, but also other options like chicken tenders, hot dogs, sandwiches, cookies, and other desserts.”
The decision aims to streamline late-night dining operations and better allocate staffing resources during off-peak times.
On Carnival’s Excel class ships (Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee), the late-night buffet is held in Guy’s Pig and Anchor on deck eight.
Heald said the pizza place will also open an hour earlier, from 9 a.m. to midnight, instead of 10 a.m.
Mixed Feedback
However, not all guests are embracing the change. A passenger who sailed Carnival Panorama last week said the late-night buffet selections were “lackluster” and confirmed that the pizza was closed at midnight.
Another guest told us that the menus aren’t that new and that pizza has always been on the list, just not the “good kind.”
Conversely, others appreciate having easier access to pizza alongside other buffet items. By integrating pizza into the buffet service, Carnival aims to reduce late-night wait times and offer a more streamlined dining approach.
If guests still crave pizza after hours, they can order it from room service 24 hours a day.
