The Legend will begin and end its sailing season with longer Carnival Journeys. It will depart from Tampa on April 24, 2025, for a 14-day Panama Canal exploration, including stops at Cartagena, Colombia; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

Sailing from San Francisco

On May 8, 2025, the 88,500-ton cruise ship will arrive at its new San Francisco home port where it will begin sailing alternating routes to Mexico and Alaska. The first four-day Mexico voyage will explore Baja and Ensenada, Mexico. On May 12, the Legend will embark on its first 10-day cruise to Alaska, sailing to Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord, and Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

Heading to Hawaii

Finally, on September 21, the ship will leave on its second itinerary for Carnival Journeys—a 15-day closed-loop Hawaiian cruise that will visit Honolulu, Oahu; Kahului, Maui; Hilo, Hawaii; Nawiwili, Kauai; and Ensenada, Mexico.

When the Spirt-class cruise ship begins homeporting in San Francisco, she will replace her sister ship, the Carnival Miracle.

Fred Stein, Vice President of Revenue Planning and Deployment, shared the reason behind the new itineraries, “Carnival Miracle has been sailing from San Francisco since 2022, so we wanted to offer our guests a new option for the 2025 season–Carnival Legend is a sister ship to Carnival Miracle.”

With Carnival Legend in San Francisco, it will add another Spirit-class ship to sail from the West Coast port. Princess, Holland America Line, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival all sail from San Francisco seasonally.

Three years older than the Miracle, the Legend began sailing in 2001 and was majorly refurbished in 2014. It has several popular amenities, such as the BlueIguana Cantina, Guy’s Burger Joint, the Alchemy Bar, the Punchliner Comedy Club, and Waterworks Aqua Park.
