Celebrity Beyond arrived in Southampton, England early this morning as she prepares for her maiden voyage on April 27.

A crowd gathered near the port in the early morning hours to welcome the vessel, which is under the command of Captain Kate McCue — the first American woman to be captain of a large cruise ship.

Celebrity Beyond is Celebrity Cruises’ third Edge-class vessel, following Celebrity Edge which debuted in 2018, and Celebrity Apex which debuted in 2021.

Differences between Beyond and her two predecessors include 179 additional staterooms and suites, Celebrity’s first AquaClass SkySuites, a much larger and redesigned Sunset Bar at the ship’s aft, two new “float pools” in the enlarged Rooftop Garden, and a new 50-seat specialty restaurant called Le Voyage.

In total, the ship offers 32 dining and beverage venues, which includes eight specialty restaurants. It also features The Retreat, a ship-within-a-ship complex exclusive to suite guests that includes a private restaurant, lounge, and sundeck.

Also onboard Celebrity Beyond is the Magic Carpet cantilevered platform that is suspended over the side of the ship; a large spa with thermal suite; The Resort Deck with a large, long pool; multi-use space Eden with floor-to-ceiling windows, and the adults-only Solarium.

On April 27, Celebrity Beyond will set sail on a 10-night voyage from Southampton to Barcelona. Following that, the ship will spend the spring and summer sailing in the Mediterranean from Barcelona and Civitavecchia (the port for Rome).

In October, Beyond will head across the Atlantic to New York City, then operate a one-way voyage from New York City to Port Everglades. From there, she’ll begin a season of mostly seven-night sailings to the Caribbean.
