Norwegian Cruise Line will waive cancellation penalties for booked guests impacted by the devastating Los Angeles fires.

In a message to travel partners, John Chernesky, NCL’s Senior Vice President, North America Sales said it will waive fees for all scheduled January and February cruises. For those ultimately unable to travel, NCL will issue a 100% Future Cruise Credit.
Full FCCs Also Offered
For details on how to apply a discount FCC coupon, travel advisors are encouraged to visit the required NCLU module. Guests who purchased travel protection can cancel their reservation and submit a claim with their provider.
“The fires that have impacted Los Angeles are nothing short of devastating, and all of us at NCL are heartbroken at the loss of life and the destruction,” he said. Chernesky also shared that his family resides just five miles from the Hurst Fire but luckily “we have only suffered loss of power at our home for about 24 hours.”
Chernesky also paid tribute to the Fire Department, first responders, firefighting pilots, and all other emergency services. “To say that I am so thankful and impressed with their brave efforts would be a severe understatement. Words can’t describe our appreciation for their bravery and hard work.”
Cruise Company Donates to the Red Cross
NCLH will donate $50,000 to the Red Cross to help with the recovery process and support LA residents in need. Chernesky also acknowledged the work of travel advisors: “It’s heartwarming to see how each of you will be taking action, whether it be at the Agency, Consortia, or individual Advisor level, to do all that you can to help.”
So far, the fires have not impacted Los Angeles cruise departures. The Los Angeles World Cruise Center and Long Beach Cruise Terminal, operated by Carnival Corp, are some distance from the fires. Carnival’s brand ambassador, John Heald, updated guests on Facebook that the company “does not anticipate any impact on Carnival’s schedule.”
