Carnival Welcomes Latest Fleet Addition

Carnival Cruise Line has officially welcomed the latest cruise ship to its global fleet, as Costa Luminosa was renamed Carnival Luminosa this morning in Palermo, Italy.

During this morning’s event, Costa Captain Nicolantonio Palombella handed over the ship to Carnival Captain Adriano Binacchi, with leadership team members from both cruise lines in attendance.

“Carnival Luminosa is such an added benefit to our Fun Ship family with her unique itineraries and onboard specialties,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Combining favorites from our fleet and our wonderful crew with some of Luminosa’s own fun features, this ship will surely feel like home to our guests in no time.”

She can accommodate up to 2,826 guests, and will become home to many of the activities and experiences that guests have come to know and love on other Carnival ships. These include the Alchemy Bar, Punchliner Comedy Club, Fahrenheit 55 steakhouse, RedFrog Rum Bar, Cloud 9 Spa, Serenity Retreat, Bonsai Sushi Express, and more.

Carnival Luminosa will sail from Brisbane, Australia starting November 6, 2022, and will remain Down Under through April 13, 2023. Next May, the vessel will reposition to Seattle to spend the summer operating voyages to Alaska.
