Guests booked on Carnival Destiny’s sailing today are in for a last minute itinerary change. Because of issues with the stern thrusters (side propellers to help the ship move sideways) on its current cruise, Carnival announced the port changes to all passengers via email on Sunday. Carnival assured guests that the ship’s safety wasn’t impacted by this in any way.
Carnival Destiny will replace Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay with Key West and Freeport. The ship needs assistance from tug boats to port and neither of the original ports can handle that. Below is the revised itinerary:
MONDAY: Miami, FL, Depart 4 PM
TUESDAY: Fun Day at Sea
WEDNESDAY: Key West, FL 8 AM to 4 PM
THURSDAY: Freeport, The Bahamas 9 AM to 5 PM
FRIDAY: Nassau, The Bahamas 8 AM to 4 PM
SATURDAY: Miami, FL Arrive 8 AM
Guests who sail as planned will receive a $50 per person onboard credit. All pre-purchased Shore Excursions for Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay will be refunded to Sail & Sign Accounts. Any passenger who chooses to cancel will receive a full refund of the cruise fare in the original form of payment within 2 weeks.
Carnival Destiny has a scheduled 49-day drydock this spring to undergo a $140 million dollar transformation and being renamed Carnival Sunshine.
