Silversea Cruises has announced plans to develop the southernmost hotel on Earth in Puerto Williams, Chile. The hotel will be designed to enhance the experience for cruise passengers traveling to Antarctica.

The 150-room luxury hotel will offer travelers a seamless transition between their journey to the “White Continent” and the expedition itself. Scheduled to open by the end of 2025, the hotel aims to support the cruise line’s Antarctica expeditions, including the popular Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program.
The new hotel is a joint venture with Chilean investors, and construction officially began following a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Silversea executives and local officials.
Puerto Williams, located in the sub-Antarctic region of Chile, serves as an ideal gateway to Antarctica, and Silversea is currently the only cruise line homeporting from this location.
The city’s unique position at the southern tip of South America allows travelers easy access to Antarctic voyages. With the fly-cruise option, travelers bypass the more challenging Drake Passage.
Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, Silversea’s parent company, highlighted the significance of the hotel: “This new hotel allows us to offer an unmatched Antarctic expedition that enhances our diverse portfolio of world-class vacations.” |
The hotel’s amenities include a restaurant, bar, lounge, fitness center, and a gift shop showcasing local artisans’ work. Overlooking the Beagle Channel, the hotel’s design will harmonize with the surrounding landscape, drawing inspiration from regional architecture and materials.
The brand has been a leader in polar expeditions for over 15 years, with ships like Silver Endeavour and Silver Cloud offering premium voyages ranging from six to 20 days.
For those short on time, the Antarctica Bridge program offers a direct flight to Antarctica, allowing guests to begin their expedition without crossing the Drake Passage.
