Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Europe season, with departures running January through early December.
It’s the line’s highest number of Europe port calls in nearly a decade, with record visits to Norway, Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands.
Five Cruise Ships in Europe
Five ships will sail the region: Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Volendam and Zuiderdam.
Nieuw Amsterdam returns to Europe for the first time in more than a decade, bringing Morimoto by Sea, chef Masaharu Morimoto’s only standalone restaurant at sea.
Zuiderdam returns to the region following her Evolution renovation. Itineraries range from seven-day sailings to a 48-day Legendary Voyage.
Mediterranean
Mediterranean sailings run seven to 11 days, departing from six homeports and calling on Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Turkey.
The season includes Holland America’s highest number of Spain visits since 2017 and a record six calls at Portofino. A 48-day Legendary Mediterranean Voyage sails roundtrip from North America. Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam add spring and fall departures.
Northern Europe
Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Zuiderdam sail Northern Europe voyages of seven to 28 days, covering Norway, Iceland, Greenland, the British Isles and the Baltic. It’s the line’s highest number of Norway visits since 2014, including scenic cruising through Norway’s fjords.
Canary Islands and transatlantic
Canary Islands itineraries call at Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, paired with ports in Portugal, Spain and Morocco.
Several transatlantic sailings and Legendary Voyages connect Europe and North America, combining extended sea days with port calls across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Atlantic islands.
Know Before You Book
Winter (January to March): Nieuw Statendam sails seven to 14 days to the Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal and Morocco, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Lisbon and Casablanca.
Spring (March to May): Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Zuiderdam sail seven to 14 days through the Mediterranean, Low Countries and Northern Europe, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Bruges, Barcelona, Athens and Naples.
Spring departures coincide with tulip season in the Netherlands.
Summer (June to August): All five ships sail seven to 35 days across Norway, Iceland, the British Isles, the Baltic, Greece, Croatia and Turkey, with calls in Flam, Geiranger, Reykjavik, Stockholm and Dubrovnik.
Autumn (September to November): Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Volendam sail seven to 48 days through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, with calls across Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Ireland and the Netherlands.
Late fall (November to early December): Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam sail seven to 14 days to the Mediterranean, Canary Islands and on transatlantic routes, including Barcelona, Lisbon, Tenerife and Fort Lauderdale.
Paul Grigsby, vice president of deployment and revenue planning for Holland America Line, said the line built each season around “moments travelers can only experience at certain times of year.”
