Viking Ocean Cruises Orders Additional Ships

Fincantieri shipyard has signed an agreement with Viking Ocean Cruises for the construction of two more cruise ships, with an option for another two.  They will be sister ships to the six already ordered, and will join the fleet in 2021 and 2022.

Details

The new ships will follow the successful design of the current ships ordered and in operation.  The entire fleet includes all-veranda cabins, and can accommodate 930 guests in 465 cabins.  As with the other ships, the new builds will be built according to the latest navigation regulations and equipped with the most modern safety systems.

The Fleet

The first ship built for Viking Ocean Cruises, Viking Star, was delivered in spring 2015.  The second and third began sailing in early 2016 and 2017.  The line will take delivery of their fourth and fifth ships Viking Sun in late 2017, and Viking Spirit in 2018.  A sixth will be delivered in 2019, marking Viking as the largest small ship ocean cruise line.
